Did you bring the obolus for the toll?

Manolo says, Right this way, Mr. Jackson. Charon will be along shortly to ferry you across the river.

I know that this is anything but original, but I still can’t believe that that’s actually flesh.

  2. elayne Says:

    Damn. He… that’s… it… DAMN.

    And white socks to boot.

  3. Talmida Says:

Did you ever play a LucasArts game called Grim Fandango…?

  4. mches808 Says:

    Manolo,

Pretending to be only about the shoes when instead you are about the vocab - Getting us to actually look up “obolus” is truly the super-fantastic!

An obolus for your thoughts? Three oboli in the fountain?

  5. Kimberley Says:

And political commentary of the highest calibre handled with the kid gloves. Oh the Manolo! We praise you indeed.

I’m hoping this sordid story will end appropriately, mainly because those who pick on others with limited or no voice SHOULD burn in hell.

  6. Pajama Pundits Says:

The Manolo, this good way with the words, he has

    Next Stop, Hades

  7. orangetammy Says:

C’mon this is no fair. I know he is weird and all that, but you shouldnt have taken a cheap shot like that. Innocent until proven guilty. I hope you won’t be doing sth like that again before i lose all my respect for you.

  8. averil Says:

you mean there still are people who think there’s a chance he could be innocent?!?!?!

i can’t even think of him being the least bit innocent without wanting to gnaw my leg off and beat myself to death with it.

  9. Julie B. Says:

C’mon, averil, you really think he’s guilty? Just because he built a Child Entrapment Complex, has paid millions to hush up previous accusations of child molestation and even now openly admits to sharing a bed with boys?

The presumption of innocence only applies to the courts. The rest of us are free to use common sense.

  10. elayne Says:

It wasn’t until OrangeTammy complained that I realized some might take the quip as saying “he’s going to hell.” I think it was simply a comment on the fact that MJ looks like a damn cadaver in the photo.

As everyone with a bit of classical education should know, in the Greek mythology (which Manolo was obviously evoking as evidenced by his reference to Charon, obolus, and paying the toll to cross the river), Hades is simply the netherworld kingdom where souls go when their bodies have died. It doesn’t have the connotation of “eternal punishment” that Christian mythology has imbued it with. In Greek mythology, the righteous go to the Elysian fields and the evil go to Tartarus - both of which are part of the realm of Hades.

IOW, don’t get your panties in a bunch.

  11. JayKay Says:

*bows down to kiss the ever-so-fashionable shoes of the Manolo*
    AYE!! The Jacko! Finally!
And how clever of the Manolo to tie in the Greek concept of Hades. He truly looks like death warmed over.
Clever, clever Manolo. You CRACK ME UP!

  12. Alexa Says:

I hope he goes to jail. It’s wishful thinking, but I’d love to see him get molested.

  13. Cybrludite Says:

    Alexa,

I really hope you mean that you’d like to hear about him ebing the victim of prison rape & not wanting to actually watch it. Even leaving the usual straight man’s squeemishness on the subject, do you want to picture that gettin’ it on in any context?

  14. Kyria Says:

    Alexa,

I believe he already has been.
